Learn CFOP

The method most speedcubers use to solve the 3×3 fast — Cross, F2L, OLL, PLL. Work through each stage, then drill the algorithms in the trainer until they're muscle memory.

🧩What is CFOP?

CFOP (also called the Fridrich method) solves the cube layer by layer, but far more efficiently than the beginner method. It's four stages:

C · CrossSolve 4 edges of one colour on the bottom
F · F2LFill the first two layers, corner + edge at a time
O · OLLOrient the last layer — make the top all one colour
P · PLLPermute the last layer — slot every piece home

How the stages fit together

You build the cross on the bottom, then solve the first two layers (F2L) by pairing each bottom corner with its matching edge and dropping the pair into its slot. That leaves only the top layer. OLL makes the whole top face a single colour (yellow), and PLL shuffles those already-oriented pieces into their correct spots. Cube solved.

New to algorithms? Start with 2-look OLL (10 algs) and 2-look PLL (6 algs) — they're in the OLL and PLL tabs. Full OLL is 57 cases and full PLL is 21; you learn those later to shave off time.

Roughly what "good" looks like

A solid CFOP solve is around 55 moves. Sub-20 second solves come from smooth F2L (no pauses) and knowing your last-layer algorithms cold — which is exactly what the trainer is for.

That right-click did nothing special. Or did it?
